LoopLearn Secures Accelerating Commercialisation Grant

After a rigorous and competitive evaluation process the Australian Government Department of Industry has awarded LoopLearn the Accelerating Commercialisation Grant as part of the Entrepreneurs’ Programme. The value of the grant is $470,189.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews said the grants were designed to accelerate the development of high quality projects which had strong local and export market potential.

“We are honoured to have been awarded the AC grant after what was a very competitive selection process.” said Co-Founder Zoe Milne.

The grant money will contribute to ensuring successful commercialisation and scalability of the technology. The grant requires matched funding which LoopLearn raised from local investors.

“Once we have established a market in Australia, we will be looking to grow overseas rapidly” said Co-Founder David Savill “it’s been great that we have been able to fund LoopLearn locally and keep our R&D here in Australia”.

The LoopLearn technology will save schools thousands of dollars every year on administration and teaching time. The facial recognition technology ensures schools meet their duty of care obligations as they embrace flexible and self-directed learning, with students working in larger areas and going in and out of class.

LoopLearn is currently in trials across Australia to validate the product and seek feedback from school communities.

“We welcome feedback from all school staff, students and parents. What we learn will ensure we continue to build technology that is perfect for school settings.” said Ms Milne.

About LoopLearn

LoopLearn automates the student roll marking process in schools using computer vision technology. Marking the roll is an important process to ensure students are safe, and schools spend significant staff time completing this task every hour of the day. LoopLearn reduces the risks inherent in manual attendance recording, returns valuable time to school staff, provides greater accuracy on student attendance records and ultimately helps schools ensure students are safe.

LoopLearn is supported by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation and Science through a commercialisation grant as part of the Entrepreneurs’ Programme.
